Korean Bojagi Wrapping is a patchwork technique using scraps of fabric (usually silk or ramie, a type of linen used in Korea). Traditionally it was used with lightweight and translucent fabrics and used for wrapping objects, food coverings and as window shades.

The final effect looks contemporary and reminiscent of Mondrian paintings.

Unlike English and American patchwork quilting which follows a coordinated pattern, Bojagi is often freestyle and doesn’t follow a set pattern. In this class Korean British artist Yvette Ja will teach you a technique using this freestyle method along with how to create reversible seams, how to finish the edging and how to incorporate colour using a limited colour palette.

The method we will show you is hand sewn. A materials list is included in the course and our starter kits will be released shortly after the course goes live.

Let’s Bojagi!
