This simplified version of a Chinese thread book uses the fantastic craft of origami to create a small book containing two secret pop up compartments. Chinese thread books were traditionally made from paper to hold small habadashery items such as needles, threads and fabric thimbles. We will also use materials used from the bindery to create professional looking covers. The papers we use here are vintage botanical illustration - algae.
Time: 1 hour

The Turkish Map Fold Book uses the fantastic craft of origami to create an expanding, sculptural book structure. Using the Turkish Map Fold, this structure was originally used as a pocket map. We have adapted this to create a rainbow spectrum and designed a simple house shape as the cover using materials used from the bindery.
Time: 1 hour

The Ori-Folder book design uses the fantastic craft of origami to create an expanding, sculptural book structure. It can hold paper, ephemera and small photographs and once learned, you can adapt to go as large as you like. We will also use materials used from the bindery to create professional looking covers.
Time: 1 hour

Kits include a single kit for each project. Extra kits are available to purchase. Each kit contains the papers needed for the project. Please also bring - ruler, pencil and PVA glue and pritt stick.

*Beware, bookmaking is addictive and you might end up a little obsessed by the end.
