Introduction to Boxmaking
Welcome to our brand new boxmaking course, which is designed for the absolute beginner to explore how to make boxes.
What is boxmaking?
Boxmaking is an extension of bookbinding and uses the same materials used to make the hardcovers of books. There are many different ways to create boxes. Openings, sleeves, slip cases, drawers, secret compartments. There is so much to learn.
What will I Learn?
You will learn all about the tools and materials you will need to create boxes as well as techniques in covering your boxes in bookcloth and patterned papers.
This course will show you how to create three box projects. These are the simplest form of boxes for the beginner to start with.
- A pen box
- A thread tray with lid
- A hinged paper clip box
If you fall in love with box making (we honestly think you will) then you can move to more ambitious projects like our Drop Spine Toolbox or Clamshell portfolio.
