Photo Album - Accordion Hinge Binding

Welcome to this online course to make this A5 Photo Album. A special no sew binding to hold your favourite photographs. It’s a perfect project to make for your loved ones to fill with, photographs, memories, recipes and other paper ephemera.

What will I Learn?

This book is made using two binding methods that I’ve brought together into one project.

The inner book block is made using an Accordion Hinge Binding. This method uses an accordion folded structure that weaves inside and out of your pages. It’s held together with a paper hinge. It really is such an innovative, simple and quick way to make a book. So it’s perfect if you want to make more than one as gifts.

The book cover is using a method called Swiss binding. Your book block is only glued on one side, leaving the spine visible and allows the book to open flat and be used as a useful tray to hold photos, before you glue them inside. You can play around with colours to get a stripe effect with the spine and I thought this was too spectacular to cover up.

Finally I’ll show you how to attach an elasticated band, which will help keep the book closed.

• 12 x A4 Kraft card (280gsm)
• 3 x A4 coloured paper (135gsm)
• Green Heritage Book Cloth 
• Orange Coloured Elastic
